Permanent Residence Permit in Turkey:
According to Law 6458 on Foreigners and International Protection (YUKK), non-Turkish citizens who consecutively complete 8 years stay in Turkey with the short-term residence are eligible to apply for a long-term residence permit in Turkey.
Moreover, the long-term residence permit is granted by the provincial administrations and with the approval of the Ministry of the Interior Directorate General of Migration Management that is associated with foreigners residing in Turkey.
It is worth noting that permanent residence is not granted to asylum seekers, and it is not granted as well to people with humanitarian residence, nor to those with a subsidiary or temporary protection.
Conditions for the permanent Residence Permit in Turkey:
- Continuous permanent residence with no interruption for eight years in Turkey.
- Not receiving any social assistance for the past 3 years.
- Having a sufficient income.
- Being covered by a valid health insurance policy.
- Not to be posing a public security threat.
Documents required to apply for the permanent Residence Permit in Turkey:
- Application for permanent residency.
- Sufficient income proof statement.
- Medical insurance.
- A copy of the previous residency.
- A copy of the passport, along with the original or travel document.
- Two passport-size photographs.
- A document proving that the applicant did not receive any social assistance from any organization for the past three years.
- Not judged document.
- In addition to a residence address document.
Advantages of a permanent Residence Permit in Turkey:
- Long-term residence permits are with indefinite validity.
- Further, holder can grant it to his wife and children under the age of 18.
- Moreover, the permanent resident can travel between Turkish cities without a travel permit.
- Furthermore, the holder of a long-term residency may benefit from the same rights as accorded to Turkish citizens, except for some basic rights such as: (candidacy, election, public office, importation of cars).
- Additionally, the permanent resident is exempted from the obligation to do military service.
