Misi Village in Bursa:

The village of Misi (today Gümüştepe Quarter) is one of the oldest settlements of Nilüfer district, hosting archaeological remains from the Byzantine period and reminiscent of the Mysian tribes.

The village has been known since the 19th century for its rural economy based on viticulture, wine production and sericulture, as well as for its traditional vernacular architecture from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. However, urban expansion, land-use changes and emanating professional opportunities have led to the inclusion of many formerly rural settlements into the urban fabric and to the alteration of their specific character.

The village of Misi was declared a protected natural and urban archaeological site in 1987. Furthermore, extensive restoration works have taken place allowing for the protection and sustainability of Misi’s architectural heritage and cultural landscape.

It is worth noting that this historic village is one of the most important tourist attractions in Bursa. It has many tourist facilities, including hotels, restaurants and cafes, in addition to parks and camping places.

Among the top tourist attractions in the village are Misi Silk House, Misi Women Culture and Solidarity Club, Misi Ethnography House, Mysia Photography Museum, Misi Children’s Library, Literature Museum, CreekSide Tea Garden.

It is located at the South-East of Nilüfer, on the foothills of Bithynian Olympus (Uludağ) mountain and on the left shore of Nilüfer river, adjacent to the central (Osmangazi) district of Bursa and to the newly developed Nilüfer District urban areas.

Misi is a quiet, traditional, Ottoman-style village that features peaceful streamside cafés and some tourist attractions.

Most people go to Misi to eat a meal at a stream. Visitors can head to the stream and pick a café on either side. Moreover, they can walk up into the village and enjoy the sights or visit the Misi Ethnographic Museum. 

Furthermore, tourists can visit the ancient places, including historical houses, ancient Roman monasteries, and Ottoman mosques. They also may enjoy wandering among the alleys of the village and buying traditional Turkish goods and souvenirs.

In addition, visitors can visit Ataturk’s Urban Forest adjacent to Misi Village in Bursa to do sports, watch the breathtaking landscapes in the forest and take souvenir photos.
